On February 15, 2015, the Internet exploded over an interactive video made by Asteroid Day, a new global movement to protect the Earth from asteroids. The video allows viewers to re-watch the historic impact from twenty different perspectives by clicking the meteor as it flies by.
There is also additional video commentary within the interactive experience from famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, who helped propel attention to the video with social media shoutouts on Twitter and Facebook.
The video was an overnight success and continues to get new viewers and shares nearly two weeks later. It’s exciting to see all of the ways interactive video can be used, and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
